ABOUT OUR UNIVERSITY
Jinzhong University traces its origins to Jinzhong Teachers' College, established in 1958. In May 2004, with approval from the Ministry of Education, it was formed through the merger of Jinzhong Teachers' College, Jinzhong Education College, and Jinzhong Workers' University, becoming a provincially-administered full-time undergraduate institution. The university holds authorisation to offer master's degrees and is among Shanxi's first cohort of application-oriented undergraduate institutions. It has been recognised as a Provincial ‘Civilised Higher Education Institution’, ‘Advanced Unit in Comprehensive Governance’, and ‘Safe Unit’.
Situated in Jinzhong City, Shanxi Province—the heartland of Sanjin and the ancestral home of Jin merchants—the university is among the first ten institutions to occupy the provincial higher education new campus district. Covering an area of 588,000 square metres with a building footprint of 394,000 square metres, the institution possesses teaching equipment valued at over 206 million yuan. Its library houses a collection exceeding 1.519 million volumes, including 541 print periodicals and over 1.433 million e-books. The campus network extends to all teaching, administrative, and residential areas.
